Crosses still burn, axes still fall
MERFOLK
FEMALE
TWENTY-TWO
APPEARANCE
Nerine, by no means, is any less unusual than her counterparts in May Falls. Provided that they appeared particularly unusual in the first place. To each, his own after all. She stands at a height of five feet and two inches, weighing in at approximately a hundred and ten pounds. Her body is thin, although perhaps overly so due to excessive dieting. Her face is heart-shaped, framed by long blonde bangs. Her hair is curly and unkempt, falling to about her mid-back. Nerine's eyes are wide, doe-like in nature. The irises are dyed blue with flecks of aquamarine and other varying shades of the color. Her eyes are framed by a pair of long, sweeping eyelashes that she often complains get caught in her hair. With a demure drop of a nose and the soft, subtle curve of her lips, there is a certain feminine charm in her body as a whole that she personally believes is appealing. Of course, with that said. To each their own, right?
But as with all mermaids, Nerine possesses both a human form as well as her true appearance. Not that it differs very much if her azure scales can be excused. Her tail appears when she comes into contact with large amounts of water, gills located on both sides of her body. However, they remain closed and appear as nothing more than marks when in her secondary form. She is by no means fond of her primary form, thinking of her tail to be more of an annoyance than anything else. As a result, she avoids taking on this form around much of anyone as long as she is able to before she absolutely needs to return to the water.
The mermaid is by no means a fan of the heat much like her fellow merfolk. As a result, she rarely will be found wearing very constricting clothing. Her attire varies with the weather and the season, although there is a fairly obvious scheme when it comes to her ensombles. She most typically wears dresses. Regardless of any weather, she almost always will be wearing a dress. It is more of a convenience for her, finding it to be extremely uncomfortable to wear pants. She also is by no means a fan of wearing shoes either. She is most commonly found walking around barefoot whenever possible. If she has to wear them, she's most likely to be found wearing sandals. Otherwise, she stays away from them as much as remotely possible. Again. Mostly out of convenience for her.

HISTORY
Her story does not begin with her but rather her parents. Her mother was a part of the nobility. While neither a princess nor a lady by any standards, her father was a vizier to the royal court. It was too stuffy of a life for her. She hated the constricting rules that she had to abide by. She hated the way she had to dress, the way that she had to speak, even the way she had to blink was uncomfortable. She longed for a life of adventure. Something new. Something grand. Something, anything to change her life. And it wasn't until a dirty looking adventurer appeared before the court, requesting a place to stay, that her life had been shaken. The classical love story unfolded between the mermaid and the human not long after and the two had run off on their own, seeking out danger and adventure in every twist and turn that they could manage to get themselves into. Nerine Bellamy was born not long after that.
Her environment was constantly changing in her childhood. Her parents were constantly moving. Although whether or not it was to elude her mother's parents or just because they simply felt like it remains a mystery to her even now. They'd travel up rivers, into lakes, and from ocean to ocean blue. She discovered treasure and shining, glimmering things that she had never done so much as seen before. It was an exciting life style, but it was nothing that she could continue to do. At least not happily anyways. As she drew into her teenage years, Nerine sought companionship from people who weren't her parents. But because she was constantly moving, there was never a chance for her to make friends. Never a chance to actually be able to stay somewhere and call that home. She began to loathe the adventurous life that she had once loved.
And it didn't go unnoticed. Her mother realized that perhaps this was not the life that her daughter wanted. She had experienced that enough in her own life time. Nerine's parents had always been the kind of people who vouched for independence after all. Even if it was from them. So on her eighteenth birthday, she set out on her own to find her own place to call home. It took her years longer before she finally arrived at May Falls. Some places were too rambunctious, others too dangerous, and some being almost too exciting for her. And upon first impression, she thought that perhaps this town was a bit too sleepy and strange for her tastes. But upon learning that there was a small population of her own kind, she decided to make her home there. Which sums up her life to this point.
It has been one and a half years since her arrival to the town. Nerine learned that her tail is replaced with legs whenever she leaves the water up to about her waist which later allowed for her to pick up a job at the local inn where she greets and helps travelers around the area. Although she finds it to be something of a hassle to have to return to the water every eight or so hours, - she tries to leave during her breaks - she finds enjoyment in her daily life with the residents of May Falls. A small part of her wants to go back to her old life with her parents, but; she believes that she can find that same rush of excitement in normal, every day things too. And what happens if or when she doesn't? Well, she'll cross that bridge when it comes.
