APPEARANCE
Sage was once a very princely individual, dressed to impress the public eye and holding himself with an airy grace. All of his demeanor showed his wealth and elegancy during the time of which he considered to be when he was truly alive. Ever since his transformation, he's lost the shine that once gleamed in his eyes and the liveliness that they once captivated. Instead, they hold a bit of loneliness to them, as though he yearns for at least one single friend but isn't sure how to obtain one. Sage is very pale with a delicate, snowy-white skin tone that is very sensitive to the sunlight. His Golden eyes stand out against his fair complexion, though they often find themselves trying to peer through his wispy bangs.
Sage has a head of dim orange hair reaching no farther past the mid-section of his neck that is often covered in a thick scarf in cooler seasons such as Fall and Winter-- even with the warmer seasons, Sage keeps at least a hooded jacket on to protect himself from the sun. The young man isn't proud of his Vampire 'heritage' and usually tries masking it.... meaning, he rarely grins, for it'd easily reveal his sharp fangs. If one looks closely enough, they may still be able to distinguish a 'noble' presence about him.... but to the naked eye, he appears to be nothing more but a withdrawn young man somewhere in his late teens. His height is average for a young man, if not slightly taller, but his figure is very lean and lanky with little bulk, looking as though he could use a few gained pounds. Even with Sage trying not to stand out in a crowd, it usually ends up happening with his lankiness making it easier to point him out in a group.

HISTORY
Sage was born in another country to a wealthy family and was the second child conceived by his mother. The first, unfortunately, did not make it past the delivery. Because of this, once Sage was born his mother was very protective over him and as he grew, he remained rather sheltered. His father was Duke of a seaside town they resided in while his mother became Duchess after a marriage set up by their families when both were only children. It was family tradition to have arranged marriages to preserve the 'pure blood' that was successfully sustained for generations. Sage's case was no different and only became more important since he was the only child born to the couple. By the age of five he was already arranged to marry a girl who was approximately one year older than himself, though Sage had no real understanding of the deal made between the two families because he was still very young.
Literature was one of Sage's main interest since he could remember. He was rarely ever let outside to play alone, his mother fearing the boy injuring himself, thus the collection of books they had in their personal Library became his playground for imagination and where he spent many of his days. His father would bring back novels he'd come across whenever he left for business, and the Library became even more shelved with books as the years passed. He attended a private school throughout his childhood and many friends he made were those somehow affiliated with his family, or had backgrounds similar to his own. Once Sage turned ten, he was expected to spend more time with Anya, the girl whom he'd one day marry. As he spent more time with her, he realized that both had very little in common. The boy very quickly caught on that he had a loveless marriage ahead and that both would have to pretend they liked each other when quite simply, they didn't get along or relate on any level.
Sage tried getting out of it but his father made clear that unless if another suitable candidate came along, he was to either suck it up or face the consequences. When he turned 12 years of age, he was sent to a well-acclaimed boarding school across seas to learn all that he needed to for his future and quickly developed an interest in a sport for the first time-- Polocrosse. His years at the institute were ones that he enjoyed, though aside from his Equestrian sports, Sage didn't have a lot of free time because of his studies. When summer came, he would return home until fall came, and with constantly being faced with having to spend time with Anya and attend gatherings with his parents, he greatly enjoyed being sent off for the majority of the year.
Sage's final year of primary school came, and Anya's family insisted on having the wedding take place the moment he graduated. Sage had dreams of traveling abroad and pursuing further education, but if he were to marry Anya before then, he feared he'd never be able to reach that goal. Conflict arose between the two families before Sage's parents agreed to the idea. Furious by their decision, he refused to go along with the plan and attempted leaving the town, but failed as he was quickly captured and dragged back. Sage was faced with two decisions to make-- he could either leave the seaside town to pursue his dreams but lose not only his inherited fortune from his family, but also have his ties entirely severed from them.... or, he could stay and marry Anya, remain part of the family's wealth and keep them in his life. Devastated, Sage was unable to leave knowing that he would lose his family, and stayed. He unhappily went through with the plan, but fate went against the wedding, as his life changed.... but in a a way he would have never fathomed.
Everything happened the night their engagement and soon-to-come-wedding was announced to wealthy families and friends invited to a ball. The celebration was intruded by someone who was there for a purpose-- to assassinate the Duke and Duchess of the town. As the night grew late and gradually, party attendees left, there was only a small handful of people left in the late hours enjoying a glass of champagne while discussing future plans for Sage and Anya. Sage was on his own, touring the gardens as his mind was full of regretful thoughts, but the sound of screams pierced the night air and he quickly ran back inside, only to find the dead bodies of the last party-goers on the floor of the ballroom. Horrified, Sage searched for his parents, only to find the dreadful truth that they too were dead.
A final scream from near the entrance of the manor erupted and Sage raced to reach the area and it was then he was met with the assassin. He was able to save Anya from being killed, temporarily disabling the enemy as the two made a run far from the manor. Before being able to leave the town's walls, the assassin caught up to them and Sage was targeted and brought down to the ground. Rather than helping him, Anya left him alone to die as she made her escape. Where Sage laid, pinned to the ground with the assassin over him, he was able to better distinguish he features and saw.... a surprisingly sharp pair of fangs, bright red eyes, and what appeared to be.... blood smudged around his mouth. It was one of the most horrific sights he saw, for he knew that the murderer was far from human. He was in disbelief, but he was soon convinced as the assassin cursed him with something irreversible, an excruciating pain ringing throughout his veins. That night marked the beginning of Sage's death as a human and his birth as a vampire.
Sage was left alone in the streets seconds after he was changed. He was in shock as he could nearly feel the world he once lived in crumbling through his fingers. Unable to return to the manor and traumatized by the death of his family, Sage left the town and never returned. He sought out to find the one who changed him into a Vampire, but also was terrified by the idea of running into him.... resulting to him traveling aimlessly and in doubt. His depression made him unable to pursue his dreams, and as the months passed, Sage continued walking wherever his feet took him, hoping for answers or a way to somehow turn back time. Along with his new-found Vampirehood came an unsustainable thirst for blood. He steered far from villages the best he could, but ended up starving himself until an unfortunate, occasional traveler would pass through the outskirts of the land, losing their life to a crazed and starving vampire. Guiltily, Sage eventually began to linger nearby the exit of villages and towns, waiting for someone to walk nearby just at the right time. Many, many years passed of Sage's isolation until eventually, he learned how to better control his blood consumption. He grew shy and nervous around people, however, and remained withdrawn and in fear of what the future had in store.
Forty years passed, and Sage caught word that Anya had indeed lived and ended up marrying his cousin, whom ended up taking Sage's place, both ruling the seaside town together. The news brought a bitter taste to Sage's mouth and he decided to leave the country once and for all, wanting nothing to do with his old life or being haunted by the past. The young man boarded a ferry that took him to another country, one that Sage knew nothing of, but he was finally ready to take the next step and dare himself to start anew. After stepping off the ferry, he stayed cooped up in hiding at the seaport until reading something in the local paper about a place called May Falls. Something about it drew him in, and told him that was where he was supposed to go next.... Sage didn't know why, but he knew he had to go there. So, he packed what little things he had with him, and decided to see what May Falls had in store for him...
